I’m saddened by the culture that has been created around learning about the religion and scholarly differences of opinion. People harshly attack other *people* with different opinions, often without critically analyzing their *ideas* and *proofs*. Scholarly debate in Islamic history was almost always done with the utmost level of etiquette and respect.
Figuring out the basics of what Allah requires from you isn’t complicated. Nevertheless, those who yearn more and more nearness to Allah will find wondrous depths in Islam.
Don’t be bullied into religious extremes and don’t be scared. Do your best, and learn from people of knowledge whose character is a reflection of their nearness to the Divine."
